I so far have found that laughter is still the best medicine…and I also know that there are days that laughter is seemingly impossible to access under the weight of the world and life's difficult situations. It can often feel impossible to keep our minds or bodies clear and in balance.
Witnessing my physician father treat children with cancer introduced me to the idea that what seemed emotionally incomprehensible could often be processed with the right words, guidance and support.
I am fully aware that visiting a psychiatrist can be a frightening and uncomfortable experience. My goal is to provide a safe, calm and informative environment that offers tools and resources towards self understanding, compassion and wellbeing.
Through my practice, I've realized that health and wellbeing often "takes a village." I treat my patients with a variety of types of psychotherapy and medication, if necessary. I firmly believe that a multidisciplinary approach to the practice of psychiatry will offer my patients every opportunity to improve their quality of life. In this pursuit, I have worked on finding a strong group of therapists and practitioners with whom I collaborate. This includes pain specialists, internists, family practitioners, pediatricians, psychotherapists, physical and cranio-sacral therapists, acupuncturists, yogis, yoga therapists and nutritionists.
I also try to impart the importance of community to my patients, and know that if they have a support network, from friends, family, religious affiliation or recovery support groups, they will tend to do better in anything they pursue.
